Mia:
Hey, Sam. (Do) You have a minute?

Sam:
Sure. Unless this is about the great dishwasher mystery again. I don't want to talk about that.

Mia:
It is not a mystery. Dishes don't magically wash themselves. Someone, who . . . and I won't name names, but it might rhyme with "Pam" or "Jam," uh, keeps putting dirty bowls next to the dishwasher and not in it.

Sam:
Okay, okay. Guilty. But in my defense, the dishwasher looked, and it always looks, intimidating.

Mia:
It has two buttons, Sam.

Sam:
Exactly. But what if I press the wrong one, and it launches into space?

Mia:
That might obviously solve the problem.

Sam:
Look, I'll do better, but while we're confessing things, can we talk about your 6 a.m. blender routine? I woke up thinking the apartment was being attacked by a very angry robot. I mean, it goes off, and it makes terrible noises.

Mia:
But I need my smoothies to survive. They're basically my fuel. You got to get that . . . bananas, the jackfruit. You can't just eat that.

Sam:
Then I'm begging you. Maybe fuel up before sunrise.

Mia:
I think you mean after sunrise, my guy.

Sam:
[Laughing] That's what I meant . . . after sunrise.

Mia:
Okay, how about this? You learned how to use the dishwasher, and I promise to not blend anything before seven.

Sam:
Deal. And maybe we can make a cleaning schedule.

Mia:
Perfect. Stress free living starts today.

Sam:
Great. Now, should I press the start button, or is that too . . . or . . . or is that too advanced for beginners?

Mia:
One step at a time.
