How to do the Text Completion Exercises | Help with Audio Files] Known Problems with Quizzes These Help pages will lead you through the basic features of this site. Feel free to print out a copy of this page for future reference. How to Take the Quizzes: Here is a quick tutorial on how to use these quizzes. Some of the steps might be a little different depending on the quiz you are taking. Basically, the site is divided into long and short listening exercises.
You will need an Audio Player to hear many of the sound files.
For additional help on listening to the audio files, see the Help with Audio Files page.
There are several different ways to answer the questions depending on the quiz. 1. The newer Long Conversation Quizzes use a radio-button quiz format as seen below. Just click on the button for each question and then press the "Final Score" button:
2. Many of the Long Conversation and Video quizzes have the pop-up menu under the question, and you answer the question by opening the pop-up menu under the question, and choosing your answer at the bottom of the page:
3. In many of the Short Conversation Quizzes, select your answer from the pop-up window at the right of the question.
At this point, you have two options: (a) check at your answer immediately from the "Answer" pop-up window, as seen here:
(b) or take all of the questions first and then push the "Final Score" at the end of the quiz:
You can also look at all of the answers at once by clicking on the "Show Answers" button.
Final Note: If the smaller feedback windows for "Final Score" or "Show Answers" (see above) mysteriously disappear and won't reappear when pressing the buttons, you might have simply clicked back on the original browser window instead of clicking on the "Back to quiz . . ." buttons in the feedback windows. The result with some browsers is the feedback window disappears behind the original. Just be sure to press on the buttons as shown, and you won't have any problems.
